Međugorje has in recent times become one of the most important and visited centres of pilgrimage in the whole Catholic world. On 24 June 1981, the Blessed Virgin Mary mother of Jesus, appeared daily to 6 young parishioners (2 boys and 4 girls) in the village of Biakovići.
Since then thousands of pilgrims have been coming from all over the world. Međugorje ist a unique phenomenon in the modern world, which so far has drawn 25 million pilgrims and tourists from all over the world to this rocky Herzegovinian village.
